RESOLUTION

The Executive and Members of CARIBBEAN LABOUR SOLIDARITY, meeting in public in London on Sunday 7 November 1999, approved the following resolution:

We call upon the Commonwealth Heads of Government, at their momentous meeting in post-apartheid South Africa, to take the lead from the new leaders of South Africa in bringing reconciliation and unity in that country and to endeavour to ensure that the 20th century is not closed in each of their countries without acceptance of the spirit of forgiveness, peace, reconciliation and unity.

In particular we believe that, after sixteen years, it is time to close a chapter in the history of Grenada by releasing from prison those convicted of the murder on 19 October 1983 of Prime Minister Maurice Bishop and others

(This resolution was moved and seconded and approved unanimously)
